Bath- Edward Wayne Davis, Sr., 57, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, March 17, at home with his loved ones by his side. Born in Portland on July, 9, 1958, he was the son of the late Clinton Manson and Phyllis A. (Malia) Davis. He graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in 1976 and earned a degree from Southern Maine Community College in 1983. Ed married Naomi-Kit Jinx Bissonnette on July 19, 1980. They were married for over 35 years. He served in the United States Coast Guard, before settling in Bath and gaining employment at Bath Iron Works. He worked there for over 35 years, completing three apprentice programs. Ed was devoted to his family and thrilled to be “poppy” of his four grandchildren. A talented craftsman, he enjoyed building houses and furniture and just about everything car-related. He loved walking with his wife and dogs on the beach and building sandcastles with his grandchildren. Ed was a faithful member and deacon of Woolwich-Wiscasset Baptist Church. Ed is survived by his wife, Naomi Davis of Bath; his children, Edward W. Davis, Jr. and his wife Britnee of Durham, Sarah Jones and her husband John of Maryland and Jessie Davis of Portland; four grandchildren, Collin, Kingsley, Hallie and Mallorie; his stepmother, Donna Emerson of Hollis; a brother, William H. Davis and his wife Julie of Woolwich; two sisters, Linda Hill, of Hollis and Kathleen Day of Zephyrhills, FL and her husband Bob; and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Jeremy; a brother, Butch Davis; and his parents. Visiting hours will be held from 3 to 6 on Tuesday, March 22 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A funeral service will be held at 6 on Wednesday, March 23 at Woolwich-Wiscasset Baptist Church, Route 1, Woolwich. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the church fellowship hall.
